THE LOVE THAT NEVER ENDS

1 Corinthians 13:1-13

Tuesday, 25 January 2022

1Cor. 13:8:Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away.”

Love never ends: NO END! That is a great thought to start today’s devotion. Dear reader/listener, yes its God’s love that never ends! Divine love is eternal. All that we may experience here on earth has an end, but divine love you experience has an infinite source and it will never end. We may be blessed with many gifts but the gift of love is the greatest to be desired and practised as it will not cease. If we experience and express this divine love in our life, we are living an eternal life; such love can’t be stopped by death and continues to eternity. What a great truth to be grasped!

Eternal love expressed: Are you experiencing and expressing this love? Check your life with the following questions? (1Cor. 13: 4-6)

  1. Do I envy?

  2. Do I boast?

  3. Am I arrogant or rude?

  4. Am I insisting on my own way?

  5. Am I irritable or resentful?

  6. Do I rejoice in wrongdoings?

If your answer to all the above questions is yes, then you can be assured that you are not experiencing or expressing this divine love in your life. Come to the Lord Jesus who can forgive your shortfalls and help you experience His divine love. A total makeover from your old self to the new, is what Christ’s love can do for you. He can fill you and enable you to overflow with this eternal love and you will reign in eternal life here on earth and afterwards in eternity!

Marks of this love: The purest expression of this love can be seen on the cross of Calvary. Divine love was expressed to mankind through the cross where Jesus died for sinners. 1 John 4:9: In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. This pure love being expressed in our life, will surely leave its marks on us. See how it happened on the cross— He was pierced, He was marred beyond recognition, He was beaten. All this He suffered because He loved us much and was willing to have this love expressed through His own very life, so that He can save us and we can live in Him. The restraining power that held Him on the cross while He physically suffered, was this love. This in turn has left that mark on His divine body which He showed it to Thomas when He was doubting. John 20:27: Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here, and see my hands; and put out your hand, and place it in my side. Do not disbelieve, but believe.”

Do we have such marks on our life in our practise of God’s love? One thing we can expect if we start expressing this love through our life is that we will have self sacrifices every corner we turn, without we can’t express this divine love. This will surely leave marks on our life. But that will give us immense joy, unparalleled in this world. So to have a clear expression of this love, Jesus said: ‘Deny the Self and carry the Cross daily.’ Only then we can express this love unceasingly. Let us ask our Father in heaven to enable us to do the same in our life so that we will be the true expressions of his divine love upon this earth.

Prayer: Abba Father, help us to express this divine love that you poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, to be expressed to this dying world. In Jesus name. Amen.
