1 Chronicles 16 : 8-36
Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced, you his servants, the descendants of Israel, his chosen ones, the children of Jacob. 1 Chronicles 16: 12 -13
Throughout the ages, GOD has chosen people in whom His glory would be revealed and through whom He reaches out to humanity with His love and care. The choice of God in the lives of people that He works with, does not need a pre-orientation, but rather it carries a command. The covenant He made with Abraham, the promise He made to Isaac and the everlasting covenant with Jacob, makes us see clearly how much God loves and supports the choices He made for Himself to the glory of His name.
The chosen ones of God are called the children of God. Does it mean that all human beings made by God in His image and likeness are his Chosen ones and Children? My answer is ‘No!’ There are the children of God (The Chosen ones) and there are the children of the devil.
1 John 3:10-12 says, “In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother. For this is the message that you heard from the beginning, that we should love one another, not as Cain who was of the wicked one and murdered his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil and his brother’s righteous.”
The clear demarcation between God’s children and the devil’s children lies therein that the “sons of disobedience” controlled by the “prince of the air” (Eph.2:2) are workers of unrighteousness, while those who are made righteous by God’s standards are His children, His chosen ones.
Unto the Chosen ones God has this to say; “… all of you are children of the Most High.” (Psalm 82:6) In this Psalm God tells a people that they are His children, but who are these people? In Deuteronomy 14:1-2 God says, “Ye are the children of the Lord your God for thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God, and the Lord hath chosen thee to be a peculiar people unto himself, above all the nations that are upon the earth.” However, John 1:12 tells us “But as many as received Him (Jesus Christ) He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name.” So, while all are God’s creation only those who have come under the Lordship of Jesus Christ become the Children of God!
As God’s chosen ones, we must always have it in mind that we are chosen and set aside for the Master’s glory.
He valued us so much; this is why he sanctified us with His word which is the truth; so that every fibre of our being will have the effects of His Word. As God’s chosen ones, we are not our own we were bought at a price- the precious blood of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:19) and for a purpose -to glorify and reflect the express image of our Lord and Master.
Remember as God’s chosen children, we need to always mind the things of our Master, whose image and name we carry! 1Peter 2: 9 says: “But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvellous light.”
Prayer:
Lord! Give me the grace to be more mindful of
You and to know how precious and valuable
I am in Your hand.
Amen.
